Experiment = a test, trial or tentative procedure for the purpose of discovering something unknown.
Think = to invent or conceive of something.
Saturday Sessions #4 asks – how to put them together?
AT PACT – 107 Railway Pde, Erskineville
more info:
The desire to invent something unknown has led to exciting and groundbreaking discoveries that have changed the way we view and experience the world. Behind this desire is a way of thinking and problem solving that is core to all artistic practice. But how do we learn to approach ideas and problems indirectly from diverse angles and perspectives? What knowledge and skills do we need to test out and trial something unknown? How can we encourage the Art of Experimental Thinking?
Join us in a discussion with artists, entrepreneurs and scientists about how they tap into the experimental side of their brain to invent and discover the unknown.
– Eliza Sarlos (Artistic Director, Underbelly Arts)
– Frank Newman (Creative Learning Specialist, Sydney Opera House)
– Pip Wittenoom (Acting Director, Emerging and Experimental Arts, Australia Council for the Arts)
– Dexter Cornelius (ex-nurse in ER and ICU, currently a photographer)
– Emma Dortins (“Omnivorous Historian”)
– Justin Koonin (mathematician, social activist)
More to be announced in the coming weeks. Watch this space!

It’s an opportunity to talk!
It’s a chance to engage in critical dialogue with a vibrant cross section of established and emerging artists, non-Arts Professionals and the wider community. It’s an informal environment to ask all those questions you’ve been wanting to. It’s about rigour and it’s about fun. It’s about taking some things seriously and others not quite so. It’s about meeting lots of new people or having a chat to someone you have wanted to for a long time. It’s about being bold. It’s about sitting back and taking it in quietly. It’s about you.
In the 2014 we continue the discussion. The Saturday Sessions work closely with the PACT program to bring a deeper understanding and connection to the work we make as artists, why we do it and how it relates to the world around us.
