Sydney art exhibitions and gallery openings 15/04/2013 – 21/04/2013 – Sydney Art Galleries and Art Community

Does any gallery reading this have any open shows/exhibitions coming up that artists can apply to?

Does any business, space, studios have and empty slots of spaces for an artist? For short periods or long periods!

Does any arts-related company have any competitions they want to offer this Sydney Arts Community?

Is there any council that wants to to talk about arts opportunities with us?

Is there any art shop that wants to offer any specials to us?

We’re all artits and it’s hard out there! Our group/blog would like to get as much information to share as possible.

Let us know if you’re having an art show in Sydney and we will share it for you.

Regards Mark.

Artwork donations wanted
Fellow artists and designers
As many of you know sjs gallery is an artist run space and is entirely self-funded….hence we do need some help from time to time to keep spaces like this alive and also to make them better for the community to utilise.
We are holding an art auction in a few weeks and are asking for donations from you or anyone you may know of who has something sitting around they may not want anymore.
We are accepting all mediums really like prints, paintings, jewellery, small sculpture etc etc (if you do donate a print is it possible to have it framed? It doesn’t have to be an amazing frame, just something to make it easy to hang)  ….as every cent helps
Venue: sjs gallery, 120 Alexandra Pde, Fitzroy Vic
Date: Friday 14th June
Time: Viewing from 5:30, Auction starts at 6pm
We will be doing as much promo as we can for the artists as well as to get ppl along so we hope the exposure will be of great benefit to all who donate. Our contact list is well over 6000 people in art or arts related industries.
A short bio (100 words approx.)
A photo of the artwork donated so we can use it for all promotional material
The price you would normally sell it for
FACEBOOK PAGE: please ‘like’ our page to see what will be on offer, info about the show and for a special invite to the event.
Whenever suits you! We cant collect all artworks so if you can let us know when u can swing by the gallery then that would be amazing! We will work around you, any donation is muchly appreciated!
For any more info or questions please email me

It begins again! We’re back, and calling for all you culture rebels to sign up and register your project in the 2013 Sydney Fringe. Registrations open today, so head to our website, sign up and get down with the underground!
This year, we have a long list of great venues that are already signed on and waiting to hear from you. They are all up on our website for you to search through. Expect to see more passionate, unconventional communities make their mark on the stage, the streets… and beyond!
You’ve got until May 10 to make your wildest ideas a reality, but if you register before the end of March, you’ll get a nice $10 discount on the registration fee. For info on all of the requirements and more, head to the Sydney Fringe website, where we’ve got as much info for you to look at as we can think of. And if we’ve missed anything, you can shoot a reply to this very email, or call us at 0466 878 958.
Or, better yet, stop in to our new digs! We’ve relocated from our Marrickville location to right in the heart of Newtown, at 5 Eliza St. Simply head down the side street nearest to Zanzibar on King Street, and look for the big fancy banner. And keep a note of this location, because we’ll be keeping this as our hub for more exciting activities for all of you to enjoy…
…but you’ll hear more about that in good time. In any case, hope to see or talk to you soon!

Broadside Zine ISSUE#6 Words & Art Callout
Broadside Zine ISSUE#6 Words & Art Callout
We’re putting together another issue of the zine so we need stuff to put in it. If you make visual art or write interesting words or know someone who does, read on!
HOLD UP! What is Broadside? Check for past issues and articles and shit. It’s pretty good.
So give us your…
Reasonably high resolution drawings, photography, paintings, things done by computer witchcraft, whatever.
Poetry, musings on the prevalence of shit tattoos in Melbourne, micro-stories… anything. The 100% non-negotiable limit is ONE (1) A4 page.
We’re always posting weird shit on our blog (movie reviews on acid, really scathing reviews of instrumental bands, etc.) – if you want in on this action, just send it in. Entertain us, that’s the only instruction.
