The Geelong Gallery invites artists to submit entries for the 2013 Geelong acquisitive print awards. Established in 1996, this biennial prize and exhibition showcases the best in contemporary Australian printmaking practice.
Please note: the award is open to artists practising in recognised printmaking processes (such as intaglio, relief, planographic and digital processes) and does not extend to photographic prints.An exhibition of selected prints will be held at the Geelong Gallery from 31 August to 24 November 2013, from which acquisitions totalling $9,000 will be made including: the Geelong acquisitive print award of $3,000 the Ursula Hoff Institute award of $1,500The Geelong Gallery wishes to thank the Gallery Grasshoppers, an anonymous donor and the Ursula Hoff Institute (UHI) for generously sponsoring this signature event, which assists with the development of the Gallery’s collection while fostering Australian artists and contemporary printmaking practice in general.

VORTEX Wearable Art Prize – $1500. Judged by Mikala Dwyer Call for proposals!! Applications due 22 FEB! Drag out your garb and tell us what it is! Go on! Sculpture on the body! Stonevilla Studios* is accepting proposals for the Vortex Wearable Art prize. Wearable Art from ten artists will be selected for a day exhibition. Presented like a fashion show, the artists will strut their art on a runway. Their is no particular theme. Just art you can wear.An artist’s fee of $200 will be paid to the exhibiting artists on the day. The $1500 prize will be judged by Mikala Dwyer. Send a brief proposal (less than 100 words)

*The Stone Villa Inc. is an artist run initiative affiliated with Marrickville council and has been established since 1997 as a community arts centre. The Stone Villa Inc. has 6 permanent members and runs two 6 month residencies per year, which it provides free to local artists. We consider ourselves to be a community oriented organisation, and as such we provide services in the form of festival projects, technical expertise for Marrickville council community arts projects and the ongoing commitment to our residency program.The Stonevilla studios hold an annual art prize called Vortex. This has usually been an outdoor art exhibition/prize. The prize money is the proceeds of an annual fundraiser held in December.
